Overview#

An ISR coordinator managing a collection window over a target area needs to know whether the GMTI radar is actively tracking, whether fused detections are accumulating, and whether the video metadata pipelines are live, all before briefing the intelligence officer. Checking each sensor feed in a separate tool slows the assessment and risks missing a feed failure that would leave a gap in the collection picture. The ISR Sensor Fusion Workbench puts all of those status indicators on one screen.

The workbench is designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance teams who need to monitor live tracks, fused sensor products, ISR catalogue outputs, and video metadata streams in one place. By combining GMTI activity, fused track counts, ISR product inventories, and live video-stream metadata into a single operational summary, the module reduces the time from raw feed awareness to mission-relevant analysis.

Open Standards#

  • STANAG 4607 Ed 3 (GMTI): The workbench ingests and presents Ground Moving Target Indicator track data by parsing the binary STANAG 4607 packet format, including Mission and Dwell segments, directly from UDP datagrams.
  • STANAG 4676 Ed 1 (Track/Entity Association): Fused track records are ingested and exported as STANAG 4676 JSON and XML TrackMessages, enabling interoperability with allied track correlation systems.
  • STANAG 4609 / MISB ST 0601.17 (Motion Imagery KLV): Video metadata stream health is monitored by decoding Key-Length-Value packets conforming to the MISB ST 0601 universal label, extracting sensor attitude, position, and frame-centre coordinates.
  • STANAG 4559 Ed 4 (NSILI): The ISR product catalogue is populated by synchronising with remote NSILI endpoints via their HTTP REST profile, with products keyed on NSILI identifiers.
  • STANAG 4774 / 4778 (Confidentiality Label and Binding): Security classification metadata attached to fused tracks and ISR products is generated and cryptographically bound using STANAG 4774 XML label syntax and the STANAG 4778 binding mechanism.
  • NATO TIDE (Theatre ISR Data Exchange): ISR product metadata is exchanged across organisational boundaries using the NATO TIDE protocol, with product types, statuses, and identifiers normalised to the TIDE schema.

Key Features#

  • Live GMTI Activity View: Shows the volume of recent GMTI tracks so users can distinguish active surveillance windows from quiet periods and identify when radar collection has degraded.
  • Sensor Fusion Track Monitoring: Summarises fused track volume to help analysts understand how much correlation is already occurring across sources, informing decisions about when additional tasking is needed.
  • ISR Product Awareness: Exposes ISR product-catalogue volume to show what has already been generated and is available for downstream consumption without requiring a separate catalogue query.
  • Video Metadata Stream Status: Tracks active video metadata streams so teams can identify whether motion, stream, and visual-analysis pipelines are live before depending on them.
  • Integrated Pivot Paths: Supports rapid movement into track-correlation, geospatial, and earth-observation workflows when a summary metric requires deeper inspection.

Use Cases#

  • Mission Watch-Floor Operations: ISR teams monitor recent surveillance activity, identify active collection windows, and decide when to escalate to deeper track analysis.
  • Sensor Correlation Oversight: Analysts confirm that radar, track, and video sources are feeding the same operational picture and quickly identify feed degradation before it affects products.
  • Product Readiness Checks: Intelligence staff verify that ISR products are being generated and published at the pace required to support current operations.
  • Collection-to-Analysis Handoff: Supervisors use the summary view to hand off active tracks, fused detections, and video-derived findings to downstream analysis teams.

Integration#

  • GMTI track, sensor-track, ISR-product, and video-metadata queries
  • Track-correlation and geospatial analysis workflows
  • Earth observation preview and drill-down workflows
  • Shared tactical, ISR, and home-dashboard hubs
