Overview#
A financial investigator working a complex fraud case may have only a name and a phone number. A background screening analyst may have an employer-provided form with inconsistencies. A law enforcement officer may be working from a vehicle registration and nothing else. Person Intelligence handles all of those starting points, routing queries across 50+ data providers simultaneously and assembling whatever the sources can confirm into a coherent identity picture. The result is not a report from a single database but a corroborated profile built from public records, social media, professional networks, commercial data, and criminal history, with clear source attribution and confidence scoring throughout.
The platform eliminates manual source hunting while achieving high identity match accuracy through advanced entity resolution algorithms and multi-provider correlation.
Key Features#
- Multi-Source Person Search: Simultaneous queries across 50+ data providers with intelligent routing based on query type, geographic coverage, and data availability
- Identity Resolution: Advanced entity resolution algorithms that match and merge person records across disparate sources, handling name variations, address changes, and demographic updates
- Public Records Intelligence: Access to court records, property ownership, vehicle registrations, professional licenses, voter registrations, and other public record sources
- Social and Digital Profile Discovery: Identify associated social media accounts, online presence, and digital footprint across major platforms with profile data extraction
- Address and Contact History: Historical and current address records, phone numbers, email addresses, and associated persons for comprehensive contact intelligence
- Relationship Mapping: Identify family members, associates, business partners, and other relationship connections through record correlation and social network analysis
- Background Screening: Criminal history, sex offender registry, watchlist screening, and adverse record checks with source verification and confidence scoring
- Continuous Monitoring: Real-time alerts on person profile changes across all monitored sources including address moves, new records, and status updates
Use Cases#
- Investigation Support: Build comprehensive person profiles for law enforcement investigations by aggregating identity, address, contact, criminal history, and social media intelligence from multiple sources
- Background Investigation: Conduct thorough background checks combining public records, criminal history, professional credentials, and online presence for employment or security screening
- Skip Tracing: Locate individuals through current and historical address records, phone numbers, email addresses, vehicle registrations, and social media activity
- Due Diligence: Assess individual risk profiles for financial transactions, business partnerships, and regulatory compliance through multi-source identity verification
- Missing Person Investigation: Aggregate all available records and online activity for missing persons to identify recent movements, contacts, and potential locations
Integration#
The platform integrates with the broader Argus OSINT ecosystem for cross-domain intelligence, investigation management for case-linked person research, profile management for entity enrichment, and identity verification workflows for compliance operations. Person profiles connect to social media discovery, digital footprint discovery, and phone intelligence for comprehensive coverage. Works with Maltego and Maltego CE for visual relationship mapping. Supports all 153 third-party provider integrations available through the Argus provider orchestration layer.
Open Standards#
- GraphQL (June 2018 specification): all person intelligence queries, mutations, and profile data access are exposed through a GraphQL API, enabling structured, typed access to identity profiles, relationship maps, and monitoring alerts.
- OASIS STIX 2.1: person-linked intelligence collected through the OSINT pipeline is represented and exported using STIX 2.1 objects (Identity, Indicator, Report, Bundle), allowing downstream sharing with threat-intelligence platforms.
- OASIS TAXII 2.1: the OSINT collection layer supports analyst-configured TAXII 2.1 feed subscriptions, enabling person-relevant intelligence to be ingested from any compliant TAXII server.
- FollowTheMoney (FtM) entity schema: watchlist and sanctions screening for person profiles ingests OpenSanctions bulk data in the FollowTheMoney NDJSON entity format; matched records are linked via a canonical sanctions entity identifier on the person profile.
- NIST FIPS 197 / SP 800-38D (AES-256-GCM): personally identifiable information fields, phone numbers, email addresses, identity document numbers, and tax numbers, are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption.
- NIST FIPS 198-1 / FIPS 180-4 (HMAC-SHA-256): blind indexes are derived from encrypted PII values using HMAC-SHA-256, enabling privacy-preserving search across ciphertext without requiring decryption.
- RFC 4122 (UUID v4): every person profile record is assigned a universally unique identifier using the UUID version 4 format, ensuring globally collision-resistant entity identification across multi-source merges.
- GEXF 1.3 (Graph Exchange XML Format): person relationship maps are exportable in GEXF 1.3, the open graph format maintained by the GEXF Working Group, for use with tools such as Gephi and Maltego CE.
