Overview#
The Camera Telemetry & Real-Time Streaming module provides centralized monitoring and management of distributed camera infrastructure, delivering live health metrics, status updates, and diagnostic data from cameras deployed across operational environments. The system tracks camera connectivity, image quality, storage utilization, and environmental conditions through continuous telemetry ingestion, enabling proactive maintenance and ensuring maximum camera uptime for surveillance operations.
Real-time streaming through WebSocket connections delivers telemetry updates to operator consoles with minimal latency, while offline buffering ensures no data is lost during network interruptions between cameras and the central platform.
Key Features#
- Live Camera Health Monitoring -- Continuous monitoring of camera status including connectivity, frame rate, image quality, disk utilization, temperature, and power status with configurable alert thresholds
- WebSocket Telemetry Streaming -- Real-time push of camera telemetry data to operator consoles through persistent WebSocket connections with automatic reconnection and event replay for missed updates
- Camera Fleet Dashboard -- Centralized view of all deployed cameras with map-based visualization, status indicators, health trend charts, and drill-down diagnostics for individual cameras
- Proactive Maintenance Alerts -- Predictive analytics identify cameras likely to experience failures based on telemetry trends, enabling scheduled maintenance before outages affect operations
- Environmental Monitoring -- Track environmental conditions at camera locations including temperature, humidity, vibration, and power quality that may affect camera performance or longevity
- Network Quality Metrics -- Monitor bandwidth utilization, packet loss, latency, and jitter on camera network connections to identify connectivity issues before they impact video quality
- Storage Management -- Track local and cloud storage utilization across the camera fleet with automated retention policy enforcement and capacity planning projections
- Offline Resilience -- Cameras continue recording and buffering telemetry during network outages, with automatic synchronization when connectivity is restored
Use Cases#
- Operations Center Management -- Security operations center staff monitor camera fleet health in real time, receiving immediate alerts when cameras go offline or degrade, and dispatching maintenance teams with diagnostic context
- Large-Scale Deployment Management -- Organizations operating thousands of cameras across multiple sites manage fleet health from a single dashboard, identifying systemic issues and optimizing maintenance schedules
- Evidence Integrity Assurance -- Continuous monitoring of camera health ensures that surveillance footage meets evidentiary standards, with telemetry records proving camera operational status at the time of recorded events
- Capacity Planning -- Historical telemetry trends inform infrastructure investment decisions, identifying when camera networks need expansion, upgrade, or replacement based on actual utilization patterns
Integration#
This module connects to the ALPR platform and facial recognition systems to provide camera health context for recognition quality assessment, the geospatial mapping platform for camera location visualization, and the work order execution system for automated maintenance ticket creation. Telemetry data feeds into the predictive maintenance analytics module for fleet-wide failure prediction.
Availability#
- Enterprise Plan: Full camera telemetry suite included
- Professional Plan: Basic camera monitoring included; advanced analytics and predictive maintenance available as add-on
