Overview#

X-Road and eIDAS Federation provides a trusted operator-initiated workflow for cross-border data exchange, identity-backed service calls, and public-sector lookup operations. The capability is designed for environments where external data access cannot be precomputed or ambiently summarised because each request depends on operator-supplied service selection and query context.

Rather than inventing generic dashboard counts, the module gives operators a controlled launch point for executing trusted lookup workflows against federated services and identity frameworks.

Key Features#

  • Operator-Initiated Queries - All lookups are launched with explicit operator-supplied parameters so external requests remain deliberate and auditable
  • Trusted Service Exchange - Supports service-oriented exchange across federated public-sector or partner systems
  • Identity-Backed Access - Aligns query execution with identity and trust frameworks appropriate for cross-border and regulated exchange
  • Workflow-First Design - Prioritises safe entry into the external-lookup workflow over misleading summary metrics when no ambient state exists
  • Secure Hub Integration - Lives naturally alongside secure communications and interoperability workflows used by communications operators

Use Cases#

  • Cross-Border Identity Verification - Operators run trusted external checks when a mission workflow requires identity or registry confirmation from a partner jurisdiction
  • Public-Sector Service Lookup - Teams access partner services through controlled, operator-driven queries instead of maintaining brittle ad hoc integrations
  • Regulated Partner Exchange - Organisations use a formal trust-backed workflow when sensitive data requests must be logged, justified, and constrained to named services
  • Operational Verification Support - Communications and interoperability teams use the workflow to validate partner-held records during time-sensitive operations

Integration#

  • X-Road service integrations
  • eIDAS and trust-backed identity workflows
  • Communications and interoperability hub presets
  • Audit and governance controls for external query execution
